Monkey on my BACK
Written by Bender
It was nearly a year ago a great big monkey climbed on my back and has just sat there ever since.

the day started like any other windy day in Bunbury, i drove to Mandurah where it was windier.

The plan was to hit hardies run for the early as the forecast said it would drop throughout the day.

I got down to hardies right on 7am with no one in sight. It looked cold, nasty and very windy. After sitting in the car for 20mins thinking how soft i was Elmo and hardie turned up.

That was all the motivation i needed.
After the usual talk on wind strength and what to rig while all three of us scratched our balls. i rigged up the 5.2m in about 25-30knt cold SW'er.

Previous to this day my max PB had been 34.9knts.

It soon proved to be a quick day as on the second run i had a clean 35knts on the dial(garmin 101).

Excited by this i got to work and soon had some 36's.
Then it came all came together in the space of 10mins I had three runs in a row that showed 36.7knt. By this time i was over the moon and growing in confidence.

I then got a screamer of a run and could not beleive me eyes as i was looking at a 37.3knts max display.

By this stage i was dancing the Elmo jig and feelig quite chuffed with my self( i didnt care Elmo had cracked 40knts).

Anyway the wind soon backed off and the tide dropped making the run too chocked in weed.

The drive home was not so tedious knowing i had some good numbers in the bag and i had done the tesam proud(Mandurah Mob).

On arriving home it soon came apparent that there was a problen down loading my data. After many nervious and disressed phones calls to Elmo for It support it became apparent that my GPS has switched to NOT RECORDING TRACKS.

Yes thats right i had no evidence or data of my greatest day of speed sailing.

I had to go to a party that night i was not a happy chappy. It must have showed as people would say "gee it was windy today you must have gone pretty fast today" and i would just sigh and nearly cry. If only they could have felt the hurt.

So to this day every time i clip up my harness and strap on the GPS (now a NAVI) i say hello to my monkey and curse him................................................one day his soul will be mine..............one day.
